  • What is Citizens for a Friendly Airport?

Citizens for a Friendly Airport is a non-profit, grassroots organization made up of Carlsbad, San Marcos, Vista and Oceanside residents who want to protect our democratic right to vote on the future of McClellan-Palomar Airport.  In 1980, Carlsbad Citizens initiated a Citizens' Initiative that requires, by law, that any expansion of McClellan-Palomar Airport must be approved by a Carlsbad citywide vote.

  • What does Citizens for a Friendly Airport do?

The City of Carlsbad will have to initiate a vote of Carlsbad citizens before San Diego County can update the 20 Year Palomar Airport Master Plan if it includes any item that will expand the airport.  Under California law, an extension of an airport runway, by definition is an expansion of an airport.  Citizens for a Friendly Airport is dedicated to ensuring that Carlsbad citizens' right to vote is granted.

  • Can anyone vote on the expansion of Palomar Airport?

To vote, individuals must be a Carlsbad resident and a registered voter.  Not registered?

You may register to vote online at the San Diego County Registrar of Voters.  Click here to register to vote.
